Communities are an essential element and a strong foundation in HIV and AIDS control program. Many communities working on HIV and AIDS issues play a significant role in educating and supporting PLHIV. This is what the Perkumpulan Pita Merah Jogja (Yogyakarta Red Ribbon Association) does. It is one of the HIV awareness communities that is now a legal organisation committed to contributing to HIV and AIDS control efforts in the city of Yogyakarta. What motivated the formation of the Jogja Red Ribbon Association? What activities have they carried out so far? And what challenges do they face in providing education to the community about HIV and AIDS?
