Umamanu Village Goes Digital: A Major Step Towards Transparent and Modern Public Services
March 9, 2026Towards a Digital Village:
Fast and Accurate Services in Umamanu Village
A major transformation is underway in Umamanu Village, fundamentally changing the landscape of population administration and community health services. Yosef, the spirited Village Secretary, shared his story about how digitalization has revolutionized the way village governance operates — making it faster, more accurate, and more efficient.
In the past, administrative processes were slow and full of challenges. Documents had to be typed one by one with limited facilities, and printing was done using a generator since the village had yet to be connected to electricity. Archiving was also minimal, creating a high risk of data loss — especially when residents arrived all at once to process important documents.
Transformation through the Village Website
Today, everything has changed thanks to the presence of the Village Website, which is now being used optimally. Yosef explained, “Now, population data is well recorded — starting from health history such as birth weight, body length, blood type, and even the birth attendant. Everything is recorded completely in the system.”

The Village Website makes it easier to process important documents such as the Certificate of Financial Hardship (SKTM), Indonesia Health Card (KIS), and various other supporting documents. Residents only need to bring basic documents such as their Identity Card (KTP), Family Card (KK), Mother and Child Health Book (KIA), and their parents’ BPJS Health Card (Indonesia’s National Health Insurance Program). Within just a few minutes, their documents can be issued right away.
The process is quick and accurate — no more waiting in line for hours,” said Yosef proudly.
Another benefit of this digital system is the ease of accessing data anytime and anywhere. Population and health data can be utilized for various government and partner programs, both at the regency and national levels. For example, when Yosef went to Waingapu for BPJS matters, he didn’t have to return to the village to retrieve the required documents, because everything was already available and accessible online.
Even so, Yosef remains cautious by keeping a manual backup on his laptop as a safeguard in case the internet connection goes down. “If the internet is down, I can still print the documents from the backup files — so the service can keep running,” he explained.
Currently, approximately 40% of Umamanu Village’s population data has been recorded in the system. Yosef, together with the hamlet heads, neighborhood and community leaders (RT/RW), Posyandu cadres, and health workers, has been actively collecting data through door-to-door visits.
The synchronization of newborn data with the village health service has also begun, ensuring that population and health information are seamlessly integrated.
“Now, documents can be completed in just a few minutes — the service is faster and more accurate,” said Yosef, Secretary of Umamanu Village.

Hopes and Challenges
Yosef holds a strong hope that the Village Website will lead Umamanu Village to become a successful and self-reliant digital village. “We want this village to be recognized for its advancement in digital services, especially in population administration. Our hope is to have direct synchronization with the Population and Civil Registry Office so that services can be even more optimal and faster,” he said.
Although several challenges remain—particularly in completing the data and adapting to the new system—Yosef remains optimistic that this transformation will bring significant impacts, not only on public services but also on the village’s social and economic aspects. Now, Umamanu Village is taking confident steps toward a brighter future — a digital village ready to serve its community swiftly, accurately, and comprehensively.
