HIV-Positive Mothers, HIV-Negative Children: Is It Possible?

Currently, information about HIV and AIDS is widely accessible to the public through education, social media, print media, and other information channels. With accurate knowledge about HIV and AIDS, it is hoped that the public can take preventive measures and offer support to PLHIV.

However, many people may not be aware that women living with HIV can give birth to HIV-negative children—if they participate in the Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) program. This program aims to reduce the risk of HIV transmission to both partners and babies.

This condition may raise some critical questions: What does the PMTCT program involve? Can it truly minimize the risk of transmission, enabling partners to remain uninfected and children to be born free of HIV?
