Village Head in Yogyakarta Actively Works on HIV and AIDS Control
Yogyakarta is known by many names, such as the City of Students, the City of Tourism, and the City of Culture. People from all over Indonesia and abroad come to Yogyakarta. However, behind its beauty and diverse charm lies the ongoing issue of HIV and AIDS cases.
Data from the Yogyakarta City Health Office, from 1993 to August 2023, shows 1,535 HIV cases and 305 AIDS cases, with 139 of the HIV-infected individuals being housewives and 21 cases involving children aged 0-14 years.
The high number of HIV and AIDS cases among housewives requires the active involvement of various parties, not only health workers but also stakeholders at the village level down to the family level.
